The main route is New Delhi-Modinagar-Meerut by-pass-Muzaffarnagar by-pass-Roorkee-Haridwar-Rishikesh-Shivpuri. The total distance is 239 KM and should take you around six hours if you leave well before peak hour traffic kicks in, i.e., around 6:00 AM. The highway is clean with a double lane most of the way except in parts where the highway is still under construction. Pit stops for food - we recommend the new Cheetal Grand bang on the highway, at the Khatauli intersection. The best tandoori chicken, rajma-chaval and aloo parathas this side of the universe! And their chicken sandwiches aren't bad either! The cherry on the cake is, of course, their pristine clean loos. Another decent pit stop on the new highway is the Namaste Holiday Complex which has Haldirams, McDonald's and Costa Coffee. The drive from Rishikesh to Shivpuri is all uphill so you really want to get here before dark - and will take you around 30 minutes. Bull's Retreat is on the right side of the road, so just keep an eye out for it. There's an Indian Oil petrol pump right opposite.
Haridwar is your last stop and there are five trains that leave from Delhi for Haridwar. They all depart between 5:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Your best bet, however, is the Dehradun Shatabdi. It leaves New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) at 6:50 AM and 4 Hrs 35 min later, you're in Haridwar - at 11:25 AM. It's a 42 KM ride to Bull's Retreat from the station and should take you around 1.5 hours. We can arrange for a car to pick you up from there. If you're planning to catch a taxi from Haridwar station, it will cost you around ₹5,000 to ₹6,700 for a round trip.
The closest airport is Jolly Grant at Dehradun. The major airlines that fly this circuit are Indigo, Jet Airways, Spice Jet and Air India. It's a one-hour flight from Delhi and we can arrange to pick you up from the airport if you let us know in advance. Jet Airways and Indigo also fly direct from Mumbai.
The drive to Bull's Retreat is around 33 KM from the airport and the trip should take you around one hour.
